Today's topic is about the best sequels ever...but I am HORRIBLE at reading sequels in a series! Why? Because there are SO MANY books out there and I want to read everything! So often I get distracted by other books and never finish a series. The Young Sherlock Holmes series by Andy Lane? Read the first one. The Wake series by Lisa McMann that my students RAVE about? Read the first one.
And then when I do read an entire series, I almost always prefer the first book. Just about every time. So I only came up with four books for my top ten list.
- The Scorch Trials by James Dashner--I LOVE the Maze Runner series and was so engaged in this second book of the series. So much mystery, action, secret behavior--I LOVED it!
- Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J.K. Rowling--I think #4 and #7 were the best!
- Shadow Kiss by Richelle Mead--I loved the Vampire Academy series and this third book is when I became truly invested in the Rose/Dmitri saga. So much emotion in that book--so. much. emotion.
- Scorpia by Anthony Horowtiz--I am a die-hard Alex Rider fan and this fifth book was my favorite. Very action-packed with a great villain.
YES to Harry Potter and Shadow Kiss! I loved them <3
ReplyDeleteI totally understand why you don't read many sequels... I hope you'll get to a couple soon, though!
