Friday Find

Happy Friday, everyone!

I'm facing this weekend with hesitated excitement--while I'm thankful for a few days of rest, we are hearing that more snow and ice is most likely on the way...blah!  C'mon spring!

So I'm excited to share an adorable Friday find with you, because we're all going to need a pick-me-up this weekend!

Now I'm totally biased when it comes to this item because my husband Luke is a pilot and I love all-things airplane.  But how cute is this ring?!

Ahhhh!  So cute!

It's from Lauren Conrad's jewelry collection at Kohl's.  It is dainty, sweet, feminine, and trendy!  I'm obsessed!  I think it's on Kohl's website right now for only $9...which makes it even better!

So what have you been finding lately?

*I am not associated with Kohls or Lauren Conrad.

Dragon Inspirations

Hi, readers and fashionistas!  Yesterday I reviewed The Last Dragonslayer by Jasper Fforde, and I LOVED it!  So I thought I would show off some dragon-inspired items for your house, wardrobe, or Halloween party!

All About Dragons!

So let's go through these (starting at the top right and going clockwise):
  • What is cuter than a baby dragon?!  What an adorable Halloween costume!
  •  A dragon eye ring.  Ok, this is kind of creepy but also super cool.  Kind of like having a third eye around all the time!
  • Scale-inspired pillows.  These pillows are pretty chic but also have that dragon scale feeling.  I would totally have these in my house!
  • Black combat boots are pretty popular again this season, and you definitely need a pair of these if you're going to be a dragonslayer!
  • Be bold and wear a dragon necklace!  Although maybe not this one...it's over $4000.  Um, I love dragons but that might be a bit much...
  • A loose French braid, which is very inspired by the dragon tail.
What do you think?  Got any dragon-inspired fashion or home pieces?

I'll be back this weekend with an "Add a Little...to your Saturday" post based on a cheap date night!  See you then!

The Name of the Star-Inspired Look

On Monday I reviewed the book The Name of the Star by Maureen Johnson, a great October read that combines mystery with the supernatural (i.e., Jack the Ripper has come back from the dead).  So today's look is inspired by the Victorian time period and the dark mystery of this book.  Here it is!

 Victorian Look

A spooky but sophisticated look, right?

Here's the breakdown:
  • The shirt...isn't is so Victorian looking?  I love the black color, the high neckline, the lace collar--this shirt is perfect for this look!
  • Plum is a great color for this time period, so I added plum pants that aren't too skinny.
  • Black heels--these are some awesome shoes that hype up the look.  Kind of gives an "I'm not messing around" feel to the outfit, don't you think?
  • The accessories--pearl earrings to keep it time period-appropriate, a large black ring to heighten the mystery, and plum nails to color-coordinate.

I love this look because it gives a mature yet mysterious interpretation of the days of Jack the Ripper.  What do you think?

Tomorrow I'm reviewing the sequel to The Name of the Star--it's called The Madness Underneath.  See you then!
